The OneHealth DataSpace project of CESGA consolidates itself as a data-sharing initiative for global health
The OneHealth DataSpace, focused on the One Health concept âa term coined by the World Health Organization (WHO) to describe the interrelationship between human, animal and environmental healthâ has advanced in its consolidation process as a leading innovation initiative for global health with the incorporation of more than 10 new entities in recent months.
The OneHealth DataSpace initiative âfunded by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Administration through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by NextGenerationEU fundsâ has facilitated access to the Data Spaces Kit of CRED (Data Spaces Reference Center) for the entities that have joined the project. This environment will be integrated into the future One Health 1HealthAI AI Factory of CESGA.
22 entities, a real One Health ecosystem
OneHealth DataSpace has reached a total of 22 entities joined to the data space after the closing, on March 31, of the application period for the Data Spaces Kit of CRED. This collaboration framework allows companies, SMEs and institutions to share data securely and optimize its exploitation through advanced technologies.
With an already defined base of participants, OneHealth DataSpace configures a real collaboration scenario around data, with a strong presence of the healthcare domain. Of the total 22 entities joined:
⢠81.8% belong to the human health sector
⢠13.6% generate environmental health data
⢠4.5% correspond to animal health
In terms of activity, 14 of the 22 entities (63.6%) already provide data within the space, reflecting a relevant level of adoption in an early phase of the project.
Beyond data sharing: HPC, Big Data and Cloud
In addition to data sharing, OneHealth DataSpace provides organizations with an advanced technological environment that combines HPC (high-performance computing), Big Data and Cloud (cloud computing). This set of capabilities makes it possible to transform data into useful and actionable knowledge.
More than data. More than data.
About the One Health 1HealthAI AI Factory
The 1Health AI Factory is the only infrastructure within the EuroHPC JU network of AI Factories specifically conceived to support research and innovation framed within the One Health strategy. Driven by CESGA and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), it will place Galicia and Spain at the forefront of the European technological ecosystem in global health, offering access to supercomputing, advanced AI tools, and training and support services for the business, academic and research sectors.
About CESGA
The CESGA Foundation (Galicia Supercomputing Center) is a non-profit organization dedicated to scientific research, technological development and innovation since 1993, supported by the Xunta de Galicia and the CSIC. It conducts research, manages an infrastructure integrated into the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), recognized as a Singular Scientific-Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) of the State, and provides advanced HPC, Big Data, Cloud and AI services to the scientific, educational and business communities.
